Triumphant Shippeo and Maflow celebrate their CEE Supply Chain Excellence Awards at TRANSLOG Connect 2019
Central Eastern Europe’s leading regional logistics and supply chain event, the annual TRANSLOG Connect Congress took place just a few days ago, in mid-November. Decision-makers from over 19 countries held around 1700 meetings during the two-day Congress and laid the foundation of numerous new business partnerships.
Over/Around 500 industry leaders, logistics professionals have taken part in TRANSLOG this year, to find new solutions and answers to their most pressing business challenges and being able to hold pre-qualified and pre-arranged business talks with potential new partners. The business forum – aiming to develop Pan European business relations – has focused on the role of real-time technology and robots, in areas that heavily impact the logistics industry these days, such as smart warehousing in the automotive industry, supply chain visibility and how artificial intelligence, big data and virtual reality supports change - to mention a few examples.
Thanks to the presentations and case studies, dozens of locally and internationally operating companies had the opportunity to do some benchmarking and share their prognoses for the future, especially in the light of the rapid technological developments that have recently changed working methods and logistical processes.
Among others Daimler, BMW Group, Atlantic Grupa, Continental, C.H. Robinson, Arviem have offered insights to their supply chain efficiency, and by doing so they have inspired and supported the CEE industry as a whole, especially if we consider that according to some studies, around 50% of the local CEE businesses do not have a digital action plan to tackle the changes the logistics industry is going through currently.
For the seventh time, the Central Eastern European Logistics and Supply Chain Excellence Award was handed out during TRANSLOG. The aim of the award is not only to celebrate excellence in logistics, but to encourage professionals to constantly raise standards and innovate in logistics and supply chain management, contributing to the development of CEE as a region.
The winner of the solution provider category this year was Shippeo, with their project developed for Faurecia Seating, named “Embracing real-time & predictive technologies to create a more agile Supply Chain”.
Shippeo was established in 2014, and by now the company is tracking 3 million transports all over Europe annually. Beside Faurecia, companies like Intermarché, Leroy Merlin, Saint Gobain, are also among their partners. The winning solution is using a state of the art innovative machine learning ETA calculation and real time communication on transportation risks to customer teams allowing proactive reaction. It is a Pan European deployment. The solution allows cost optimization for the Automotive Seating Supply Chain through real time tracking and anticipation of delays to avoid penalties or line stops. It covers the whole seat supply chain. Not only the innovative technology is impressive, but also the speed of implementation. The new system was deployed to 38 plants and 48 carriers in 7 months, tracking 1600 flows per week in 16 countries, speaking 14 different languages.
Maflow Group, one of the largest manufacturers of air conditioning tubes, power steering assembly and active suspension hoses supplying automotive industry, won the manufacturer category with their partner Logintegra.
The winning project „Transport management - Implementation of logistics platform” provides a very good example on how to digitalize transportation processes. It offers a variety of different functionalities that have significantly improved the work of people who organize transport every day. The Transport platform allows online communication with all the supply chain partners, both within the company departments (Warehouse, Security, Customer Service, Transport, Quality, Engineering, HSE, HR etc.), as well as with carriers, forwarders and transport companies. Due to the time slots module, it is possible to control and manage the warehouse job load schedule. The results are not only cost savings of impressive 15 % of the transport costs, but the whole transport management process has become more transparent, efficient and structured comparing to the status before the platform start and integration with the SAP ERP System.
Based on feedbacks, the above mentioned programs and presentations massively contribute to the regional implementation of innovative logistics solutions as well as to strengthening supplier relations, and making TRANSLOG, the leading annual networking and thought leadership forum of the region.
TRANSLOG Connect is awaiting logistics decision makers and innovative solutions in November 2020 yet again.
